What is a host agency and why do I need one?

A host agency provides the foundation you need to run your own travel business. As an independent advisor, you operate your business while the host agency handles the backend—industry credentials, supplier relationships, commission processing, and support. As the industry shifted away from traditional storefront agencies, the host agency model became the standard. It allows you to work independently while still having access to the tools, training, and partnerships needed to succeed—without having to build everything from scratch.

How much money can I make as a travel agent?

Building a travel business requires hard work and time, but it can be very rewarding and profitable. How much you earn is entirely up to you. Some of our top agents earn as much as $10,000 per month. The sky is truly the limit.

How do I get an IATAN and/or CLIA card?

Agents can earn an IATAN and CLIA card under Outside Agents. To be eligible for these cards under the OA credentials, an agent must earn $5,000 in commission in the prior 12 months. To maintain the cards, you must continue to earn a minimum of $5,000 in commission from Outside Agents each year and also attain and maintain a 3 to 1 ratio of client-bookings to self-bookings.

What are your commission splits?

Our commission structure is designed to grow with your business:
• Standard (75/25) – For new advisors or those with annual sales under $100,000.
• Advanced (85/15) – For experienced advisors with annual sales of $100,000+.
• Pro (95/5) – For high-producing advisors with $750,000+ in annual sales

Each tier offers higher earning potential as your business grows, with corresponding monthly plan options.

For agency-provided leads, commissions are split 60/40.

When do you pay commissions?

Commissions are paid monthly, after they are received from the supplier and your client’s travel has been completed. Payments are issued automatically via ACH, so funds are deposited directly into your bank account without any extra steps. You can track the status of all commissions at any time in the Agent Portal.

Booking travel shouldn’t be complicated. With tripXpress and Travel Tix Air, you can search, compare, and book everything from cruises to flights in one streamlined system—making it faster and easier to create and manage your clients’ trips.

Simple, transparent, and ready to go

Getting started is straightforward. A one-time $95 administrative setup fee, plus your first month’s plan, covers the initial configuration of your systems and onboarding. Once your application is approved, you’ll gain immediate access to the Agent Portal to complete the Agent Kickstart training. From there, we’ll finalize your CRM and tools so you’re ready to begin selling—typically within five business days.

Independent, supported, and ready to operate

Operate your own travel business under an established, trusted brand—without the complexity of setting everything up yourself. You’ll have the structure, systems, and support in place from day one, including E&O coverage and the option to use a company email address. There’s no need to form an LLC to get started. The only required registration is the State of Florida Seller of Travel exemption, which is a $50 annual fee paid directly to the state. We provide a simple link and guidance to complete this step so you stay compliant and ready to sell.
